Staff Reporter; Painting competitions held in all Telangana districts
NIZAMABAD: In order to create awareness among younger generations on Telangana culture, heritage, nativity and festivals painting competitions are being conducted in all Telangana districts.
Thereafter, the Telangana regional level competitions will be held at Hyderabad, according to Jooluri Gourisankar, general secretary, Telangana Rachayithala Vedika.
Talking to The Hindu, here on Monday, he said this was a part of the efforts to build an agitation to protect the culture and existence of Telangana.
The Telangana literature still stands in the forefront in Telugu literature. Despite this there has been cultural invasion from all quarters, he said.
Convener, the Telangana IT Forum, R. Naveen Achari, said the competitions were being organised in association with ‘Discover Telangana’, an NRI forum in the United States of America.
The competitions were already organised in Karimnagar. Cash rewards would be given for first, second and third prizes respectively apart from mementoes in senior and junior categories.
Children studying in classes VIII-X are eligible to take part in the senior category, while those in classes VII and below in junior category.
In the regional level competitions for the first prize $150, second prize of $100 and the third prize of $50 USD would be given, said Mr. Naveen.
Meanwhile, at the district level painting competitions held at the Bal Bhavan here G. Rani and D. Shonith came first in senior and junior categories respectively.
A. Dharani, K. Lahari and D. Akhil bagged second, third and consolation prizes in seniors group, while G. Suresh and K. Vaishnavi were adjudged as the second and the third best in junior group. S. Tejana Reddy was given the consolation prize.
