This is the photoblog of kids in RDF schools in Kalleda village, in Parvathagiri mandal, Warangal District, Andhra Pradesh, India. It began in 2005 when an American teen-ager, Abby Stone, got digital cameras and taught kids at the Kalleda Rural School basic photoblogging skills. This account was set up to display some of their best photos. It was featured on the BBC website in February 2007.
After a lull in 2007, a new group of photobloggers was trained by Washington Univ. students Alma Carver and Lane Goodman (who were in Kalleda as part of Wash U’s Village India Program). The new photobloggers are students in RDF’s recently-built Pai Junior College (grades 11-12). A sample of their best work will be posted here. Photography is new to most of these kids, and they appreciate encouragement.
The Kalleda Rural School and Pai Junior College are supported by donations. If you can make a small contribution, see www.indiarural.org (it’s tax-deductible).
